Destination...Sweden!

Oh how I wish that were true for me! Since I know that's not going to happen I'm enjoying getting creative with the Bon Voyage Collection! As always, Magnolia have come up with the sweetest images for our creating pleasure. The entire creative process, the coloring, paper selection, layout, embellishments and final product are my form of therapy! So here is another card I have created this time using #277, Bon Voyage Tilda and #625 Suitcase with Sign, both available from Diana at Magnolia-licious.

I found this delightful "Luggage" dp at my local Scrapbooking store. It is from the Little Yellow Bicycle "Pack your Bags" collection. Since it's double sided it worked out wonderfully for this card...

Saddle Up for birthday wishes...

Believe it or not I've been working on this card for two weeks! I had this idea in my head but getting that transfered to paper was quite a challenge. Part of that time I was waiting for the image of #410 the Horse, which my dear friend Sandy sent to me. I had a hard time finding the hardware I really was looking for and in the end just had to "settle" for what I could get. *Sigh*

So this is what I came up with...



Living in Texas, I just had to have the Cowgirl image. I mean, what else does Texas represent, if it isn't the spirit of the Ol'West? She is #229 and from the Bon Voyage Colleciton 2010 and is available from Diana at Magnolia-licious.

Here is a closer look at Tilda. I really tried to get a leather or suede look to her outfit...

I made a gate for the horse to stand behind. It's what took me so long to figure out!



The gate opens to reveal the entire horse and the birthday tag, which is from JustRite stamps....



I made the horse Dapple Grey by using Blending Solution on a paper towel and patting over it after I had colored it...



I just recently received my final package from Leonie who was my Secret Stamping Sister over at Stamptacular. I'm telling you, this girl is so awesomely talented and extremely generous. Among the many wonderful stamping things she sent me was my own personalized signature stamp. I was thrilled to receive it and it works beatuifully! Thank you so much Leonie...

Magnolia-Licious September Blog Hop..."Bats and Brooms"

It's that time again! Time for another delightfully fun Blog Hop with the Magnolia-licious Design Team. This month our theme is Fall or Halloween! I only have two Halloween images! That's pretty pitiful! I used Tilda with a Pumpkin and the Bat which are available at Magnolia-licious.
Diana has had them on re-order and hopefully they will be in stock soon! My dear friend and fellow DT member, Sharon Caudle, sent me the spider image, so I could use it on the Spider Web Acetate I used to make my Treat Box with. Thank you so much Sharon for helping me out in a pinch.

Before I go much further, let me tell you that my card and treat box, full of Candy Corn, will be given away to one lucky person who comments on this post. I don't know how you use Random.org so my hubby is going to pick a number from the list of commenters and that lucky number will win the prize. So without further ado, here is my project for the hop...



I really had fun designing this set! I will give a card recipe at the end of this post if your interested in what I used to create it with.

Here is a look at the card all by itself...



I paper pieced Tilda dress using some dp I had on hand from last year. The paper is from Basic Grey and is double sided. I loved the polk a dot side so much for the dress but I had to figure out a way to stamp it in something other than black which wouldn's show up on the paper. So I used Encore Silver Metalic ink which I've had for years. It was still juicy, believe it or not.

I used multiple punches and dies to get all the fancy work done. Those are listed below also.

The pumpkins are a digital image from our very own Maureen Kuppe, who is a fabulous artist. I'm sure you've seen some of her awesome work already on her blog. I thought these three pumpkis were so complimentary with my card, and added that pop of orange to accent my matting. Notice the little spider coming down out of the corner punched web...

Now for the treat box...



I used the directions for an Acetate Box which you can find here. I had found the acetate sheet at my local scrap booking store and just knew what I wanted to do with it. The spiders were stamped using Stazon Black ink and the Bats were colored with copics and added with glue dots then stamped again on black and added to the inside.

The little Happy Halloween stamp is from a G Studio set which I picked up also at my local scrap booking store. I got 12 months in a set for just $5.

Hang in there.....

Hi everyone! I'm back again with a new card. This is the last of the cards I colored while recovering from my foot surgery. Actually I got quite a lot accomplished while I was laying around.

Just a quick update on my hubby and I. I am at last out of the brace and wearing my tennis shoes (which are brand new)! I'm doing well in Physical Therapy and for the most part I walk without a limp. We went back to the surgeon this past Thursday to see how DH is coming along and to his great disappointment they have left him in the "leg irons" (that is our term for the external fixater) until September 21st. Then they will take more Xrays and hopefully he be able to move into "the boot". It will be a milestone for him.

So onto my card....

I hadn't had a chance to use this little Tilda before, when she was fresh and new, and I was looking for a way to ink her up and show her off. This lovely stitching pattern just seemed to lend itself so well to her. She is #317 - Dangling Tilda - from the Raising the Ceiling collection available from Diana at Magnolia-licious.

My card recipe is listed at the bottom of the post, if you're interested in what I used to create this card. I was really trying to match the pretty teal color in the dp. I scored around the edges of my stitching panel for a little interest using my Score Buddy.

The inside of the card is pretty simple. I didn't have enough of my dp left over to cover both sides so I just made a panel and added ribbon to the top side.

Happy Birthday to you.....

Labor Day is now behind us and I must say it was the quietest one ever! I hope every one had a fun and safe long weekend. I did manage to get just a little crafting done, but spent some time getting my hubby out of the house for a while too!

I used and meandering stitch around my panels to kind of go with the flow of the dp.

On the inside of the card, the beauty of the paper is left open and simply tied with ribbon with a few pearls for accent. While I used the Lattice Deep edge punch to accent my notation side.



I added my signature to the back on my card using my little heart on a ribbon peg stamp by Judith. The Made with Love portion is from The Cutting Cafe

Magnolia-licious September Sketch Challenge...

Well, life seems to be taking on a more normal pace for me again, and I'm finding time to get a few cards made.

This month the Magnolia-licious challenge, offered by the extremely talented Becca Feekan, is to make your choice of either Backpack box or a Suitcase box using any image from the new Bon Voyage Collection 2010 from Magnolia. I chose to make the little suitcase. It was difficult trying to decide which of the fabulous images available I should chose, but in the end decided to use the gorgeous Japenese Tilda #227 and available at Diana's wonderful online shop! I realized that the image wouldn't fit on the suitcase, so I made her into a little gift card to match the suitcase.

I found some pretty shiny gold cardstock that I thought would make an excellent suitcase, and some beauitul Origami paper, which I've had for several years, has gold running through it. A perfect combination! I made my suitcase with a panel of Origami and cardstock on each side so it would match. The straps are just black grosgrain ribbon and I added pink self-adhesive pearls to the ribbon to make it look more authentic. The suitcase looked so very plain that I decided to add some floers and pearls to fancy it up a little. After it was all done, I added some yummy chocolate Nuggets to the box.



Well, since my little Tilda wouldn't fit on the suitcase, I decided to make her into a little card that would hold a gift card. Here is the card I made with Japanese Tilda...

I made the inside of the card to say thank you and to hold a gift card. I made this set with some specific friends in mind! They have done so much to help us out since Bill's horrendous accident and I wasn't sure how I could replay them for their generoisity in helping us out. The little gift card is for a very popular restaurant here in town and I hope the whole family will enjoy the dinner out and the delicious chocolate Nuggets.
