Alvin and Tingla

I wanted to work on a small project tonight just for fun and just for me. I purchased these key chains at Michael's quite some time ago and had decorated them by adding stamped images to the inside of the fob part using SU products. Well I decided to change them up a little, and it seemed that the images of Alvin and Tingla - the babies - would fit. I specifically ordered these little ones because of the years we have fostered infants - 44 in all!



I wasn't sure how these would photograph after I inserted them in the plastic, but here they are. Tingla on one side and Alvin on the other.




It was a quick and fun project anybody could easily get done, so give it a try.

MAGNOLIA-licious February Sketch

I can't believe I've spent most of the day working on this card. I've fiddled around with rearranging paper, different sizes of ovals and ribbon and everything!!! The coloring with the Copics is now my favorite part of the whole process. Even with a sketch before me, I sure had a hard time with this one.



I dug through my bin of scrap paper to find something that would go with the new ribbon I received with my order. And as it so happened, I had the right Copic colors to coordinate.

Blogger's Friday Challenge

I had to pass on last weeks challenge, but I'm on top of things this week, so far!

Our challenge this week is to make a Graduation card, and since I had several to make this challenge came in handy. I was also given a challenge to use a Magnolia image if I could. That was really a challenge since I don't have but 4 of the Magnolia images, and a bunch of images that were stamped and sent to me. None of them were from the Graduation Bundle. So I called my friend, Millie, and asked her if she had any stamp sets that would include a Mortor Board (sorry if I got the spelling wrong on that one). Hallelujah, she did and I threw the babies into the car and drove all the way over to her house. It was exactly what I was looking for and just the right size for what I had in mind. I still needed two more Graduation cards - for my youngest and oldest grandsons, so it needed to be a boy theme. It just so happens that two of the images Claudia sent me were Edwins. I also wanted to make my own envelope for one of the cards that would match the card. Again I was in luck as I had bought some beautiful 12 X 12 paper when I was in Salado. So here's two cards that I came up with:

Card #1:



So that I would have enough paper left to make the envelope I had to make this card 4 X 4. The image, die cut with my nesties, just fits. I stamped the Board, cut it out and adhered it to the head of Edwin (who was wearing a touque) with dimensionals.

Card #2:

This one is for my youngest grandson, who has completed Kindertarten.
I used SU Pacific Point and Kiwi Kiss plus some pieces of dp from my scrap bin. Since I only purchased the assorted package of In Colors this year and no DSP to go with it, I had a difficult time finding some paper that would "go" with those colors. I think I managed it pretty well though. I used Stickles on his wings and atyou Spica pens for the tassle.



On the inside I made a little pocket to stick some money into. I know he'll love that!

Father's Day Trio

Since I have been working hard this week to get my graduation cards finished, I nearly forgot that Father's Day was coming up. My husbands dad is still living and is a really great (good) sport, he's great fun, and an all round great guy. In others words, he's a great dad and father-in-law! These stamps are both from Great Impressions, and I thought they would make a cute card. The sentiment comes as a block and each one can be cut out and used seperately, as I have done here.



Since I stitched around the front panel, I didn't want that showing on the inside, so I finished it with matching dp.



Now I need to work on one for my hubby, and it will have to be done in secret. Shhhh!

Tilda Note Cards

I made a little set of watercolor notecards last week as a gift, but still had some cut and folded note cards sitting on my "studio" table. So while I was going through the images Claudia sent me and ooooing and awwwwwwing over them all and trying to decide which to work on first, I thought about making some note cards from them. I still had some designer paper left over from that same project so, waste not want not!!!

Here is the result of my spending most of my day with Tilda.





I decided to put a small square of white cardstock inside just so whoever gets these little cuties can actually write something in them and then I decided to fancy them up a little by adding lines and dots. Then I got really carried away and decided the do the same of the envelopes so that it all ties together. The little heart on a ribbon is my "signature" piece. I put this on every card somewhere, and usually sign my name.



The artists in the MAGNOLIA-licious yahoo group are just wonderful, I know I will grow more as I get better with the copics (I have ordered E000 and E0000 so my faces won't look so orange any more. Had a few problems with color running - especially the red and could not get it to clean up to my satistaction.

Magnolia - Tilda

My first order from MAGNOLIA-licious arrived the other day and I just couldn't wait to jump in there and start working. So here is my very first "Tilda" card and it's taken me all day to get it done. Countless other "needs" had to be dealt with so I worked on her between taking care of house and family.

I added several little extras to this card. The dp I used is from my scrap bin. I placed a small paper doily behind the scalloped square. Both squares were achieved using my Nestabilities dies and then I ran the white piece through my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

When cutting out Tilda, I cut off the ribbons on her braids - they were just too small for me to cut around so I took some embroidery floss and tied it around the ends of her braids. Then I used a darker color of floss and tied it through the button, which came from MAGNOLIA-licious! Tilda's dress had white dots on it so I added these tiny pearls over them, which I purchased from Michael's. Lastly I computer generated the sentiment and punched it out with my small oval punch, used black in on the edges to make it stand out and then adhered it with dimensionals.

Letter Gorjuss - Sugar Nellie

Another "Red Letter Day" for me. My Magnolia-licious images arrived in the mail! I can't wait to get a card made with these sweet gals. But for today, I made this Sugar Nellie Gorjuss gal with a letter. I chose to use these designer papers from Basic Grey paper pad called Perhaps. I used SU Bravo Burgandy as a mat behind all my panels, and alas, didn't have quite the right colors for the dress. Well, you do the best you can. It takes me so much time to get the image colored due to my 11 month old interruptions! But I finally got the card pulled together. The button and linen thread are SU.




I have so much to learn about using these wonderful Copic markers. I don't have the lightest colors to do skin with so I have to make do. Her face is a little dark, but I'm happy with the results. This will be one of my graduation cards I send out. I have to put the sentiment on the inside.

Hog Heaven

Last weekend I went to Salado to spend time with my friend who owns the Stamp Salado shop. I wanted to make her a special card and the idea for using the pig from SU Farm Fever came to mind. I think because he's in bed, and I slept over at her home Saturday night.


I made the card 5X5, so I could work all my ideas onto it. I colored the image with Copics, about 35 different colors and cut out and matted the image using my Nesties Labels 2 die. The dp is just stuff I had in my scrap drawer, the ribbon I purchased while at the shop, the yellow layer is Summer Sun from SU. The sentiment is from SU Short and Sweet Set.

My Sugar Nellies arrived - Oh happy day!

Before I heard about Magnolias Tilda stamps (and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of 5 of their images) I discovered Sugar Nellies "Gorjuss" images. They are so adorable. If you're interested in learning more about this Scotish based stamp company check them out here. This little gal is called "Foxy" and it's the first real effort done with my Copics. I have a long way to go...

The papers I've used here were scraps from who knows where. The Copics I used on her are:
E00, E02, R20, E29, E53, E57, BG10, B45 B02, RV10, RV13, RV32, RV34, Y17, Y11, YR04, YR00, E37 and E31

The ribbon is from Michaels the little pearl on the flower is from Michaels while the larger pearls are from Stampin Up.

I'm pleased with this very first effort, and can't wait to get started on my next project. Thanks for stopping by and looking.

I got a little bit crafty over the weekend and made these two cards using my new Nestabilities "Labels 2" dies. Wow! There's so much you can do with Nesties. The stamp images are ones I purchased a while back from Stamp Salado. The little boy whistling is from G-Rated Rubberstamps while the boy with the puppy is by Imaginations!. The "Howdy" sentiment is computer generated and I used my small oval punch for the shape and stuck it behind some Hodge Podge Hardware, while the "Missing you" is a retired SU hostess set called "So Many Sayings".

I used my Copic markers on both images, the ribbon and red twine are from SU.
