Candle, Candle in the night....

Welcome back to my blog for my final Dr. Monday M.D. post of 2014! I can't believe I just said that, but yes, it is true! 

 So I'm wishing you all very warm and heartfelt Christmas Wishes. All the very best to each of you in the coming year as well. 

 I'm excited about moving forward with my designing at Magnolia-licious™. It is truly an honor to work for Diana and to have so many talented and creative ladies on the team.

 I have made for your enjoyment (and mine) a medium sized candle jar. I hope you'll enjoy the pictures (not too many of them)... Firstly, here is a look at the jar before the candle inside is lit. I have used Vellum paper to wrap the jar (purchased at Michaels) as it allows the most light through.

 You must leave an opening to allow for the stamped panel...

I have used two images from the newest collection "Waiting for Christmas".  #3 Tilda with an Apple Wreath and masked it with #23 Snowy Cottage.

Here is a close up of my colored images.  I have used Copic markers and Adirondack Lights.  A little touch of Stardust Stickles on the snow flakes for added sparkle.

Here is a photo of the jar with the candle lit.  It gives such a pretty glow and because you leave an opening where the colored panel goes, a little light shows through it as well.

Here is a look at the back.  You can see that I crimped the vellum and then took two pieces of Magnolia DP from "Sweet Christmas Dreams", tore along the long edges and adhered them to the jar.  Lastly I added some pretty ribbon, punch out some snow flakes and added purple pearls to the centers.  To finish off the sides of each panel I added some dark purple ribbon, flowers and leaves punched using my Martha Stewart punch.

Here is a view from the top of the jar.  You can see the candle and how beautifully it glows through the jar.

Dr. Monday M.D. Sliging Easel Card

A warm DR. Monday morning to everyone! After being out of the loop for the past several weeks, it sure feels good to be back. I have missed my studio and crafting time immensely! Many thanks to Diana Crick for giving the time away and to Patti Jo, my partner in crime over at Magnolia-licious for carrying the load while I was gone. 

 I have a fun card to share with you today. This is called a "Sliding Easel Card". I found the directions on Splitcoast Stampers and thought I would give it a go.

This is #3109 Gucci Tilda.  Both of my images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, colored with Copic Markers while the background is done with Copic Markers and Adirondack Lights die ink.

Now for my card!!

Here is a look at the front of the card.  It is called a Quarter Fold card and I found the directions on Splitcoaststampers.  I wonder why we didn't think of this long ago!  It folds together just like a cardboard box. Ingenious!

Here is the card partially opened.  Have you ever done this??  Before I took pictures of the card I went ahead and added a personal note on the inside.  *sheesh*  So to photograph the inside of the card I had to tear up a piece of paper to cover the writing but still show you the sentiment and the image.

Yup!  What a dummy!

Well any-hoo.  I hope you'll try this style of card for yourself.  It was fun and I enjoyed trying something new!

Fall is in the Air! Dr. Monday M.D.

October already! 

Goodness where has the time gone?  It seems as if summer were just a blink of the eye.

  I've been busy trying out several new (for me) styles of cards. I'm so excited to share this card with you because I LOVE the way it turned out.

Now, here is my card.  I've been combing through different sites trying to find different techniques to pass along to you.  When I came across this one I was very intrigued.  Isn't this cool?  I will be doing a tutorial on this and posting it shortly.  It is truly easy-peasy!

Here is the front of my card using #426 Mini Trees in a Row.  The image is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers.  The CS is from SU as are the little clips used inside and out and the ribbon.

My background is created with Copics and Adirondack Lights. 

On the salutation panel I inked up the "Trees in a Row" stamp with Kaleidacolor Rainbow Dye Ink pad "Autumn Leaves"

The sentiment is from Magnolia-licious™ Once again I used the Kaleidacolor "Autumn Leaves" ink.  I love the soft variegated colors.

Here is the side view of the card.  I wanted to show you the raised surface on the card, but it didn't show up too well! =)

You Light Up My Life...Dr. Monday M.D.

Hello blogging friends.  I have a very cool project to share with you today.

 Now for my project:

I saw a tutorial on Sam Donaldson's blog creating these cute little boxes which would hold a dozen tea lights.  I made a couple of them before I realized that the dimensions of her boxes were not going to work for our American tea lights, which are a little larger. 

I had to rework all the dimensions, which for a math flunky like myself was a huge challenge.  I finally got it right!  Here are the results...

I found the DP at Hobby Lobby.  As it's still summer here I'm just not feeling that cool chill to prepare me for some Fall creations.  So  my recreated box hold 12 little tea lights.  

I've used #3123 Pisces Tilda on the front of the box.  I chose the Labels 18 Dies for the aperture in the box and to mount Tilda on the box. The ribbon is from my stack and holds the box closed.  I stamped a SU Sentiment onto a tag that has a silver border.  I've got a ton of these and have forgotten all about them.  I also added a piece of clear cardstock on the inside of the lid to prevent the candles from falling out.

As you can see, the box holds the candles in two layers - six on each.

Here is a closer look so you can see that it really does hold 12 tea lights. And notice that the front edge of the box lid is  also cut in the same shape (or 1/2) as the aperture

Here are the first few that I made. You will notice that  these smaller boxes could only hold 5 tea lights.

Here I just used some pretty design paper.  This style of box work best if the opening in the lid is smaller.

Again I used some pretty design paper and a little sentiment.

Dr. Monday M.D. Summer Waterfall Card...

Gooooood morning! For some of you it's night time, so sweet dreams!

 I just had to ink up some of my summer time images, but now I need to post them before the summer has slipped away altogether.

 You know, I haven't made a Waterfall card in years, and wanting to use several images on one card, this style of card  was the perfect fit.

This is the front of my Waterfall card.  The pretty dp is a small piece I've had forever.  Unfortunately it was the only small piece I had, not enough to finish off the inside of my card.  (Note to self: no matter how delightful the paper is, make sure you have enough to complete your project *sheesh*.)  Here I've used #3111 Splash Tilda. I've added some Waterfall Stickles to the water to make it appear, well, like water!! Ive also used mirrored gold card stock as a mat for each of the panels. 

 

This is #355 Playing on the Beach Tilda. All images are colored with Copic Markers.  I added some Adirondack Lights to the background - my favorite technique! 

 

This is #3112 Bikini Tilda...I love her the most!  So sweet sitting on the beach

 

Lastly, here is #389 Tilda off Shore.  Love the shoes!  After I had taken all the pictures I went back and added some white polka dots to her shoes - fun! 

I haven't had a chance to use my Summer Club dies much, so I thought I would use several of them on the inside.  I located the dp at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be perfect for the inside of my card.  I did the flip-flops from a very small piece of dp I had used on the front!.  (another note to self - even though it doesn't match the front, using similar color tones really can work!) 

 

So there we have it. My Dr. Monday M.D. project came off without a hitch after all. Woohoo!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! It's Monday once again and I'm here to share with you my Dr. Monday M.D. (Mini's and Dies) card. 

 My fellow DT buddy, Patty Jo  is a whiz with the dies. I hope you will drop by her blog to see what her amazing project is this week. 

 I don't usually work with the dies so much but I've had this Cherry Lynn  die for a long time. It was sent to me by another DT buddy, Chrissy Christensen. It's been on my desk for too long and I knew it was time to put it to good use. She also sent me the screen material - what a gem!

Here is what I came up with...

This is the front of my card.  I've used Magnolia DP for the outside wall and just plain white for the door.  I made the welcome wreath by cutting a circle using Spellbinder Nestabilities Classic Circle dies.  The flowers were punched out using my Punch Bunch Corner die.  The welcome sign is SU Tiny Tags set.  I put a small Dew Drop on the end that attaches to the wreath.  Bakers Twine is used for the bow.  The hinges for the door are a Magnolia Dookickey Key die.  I just cut off the bottom of the key.  The door is hinged inside and our for stability.  I also used  a bead cap for the door knob.

 

 

 

Here is a look at the card to show that the screendoor actually opens to show the inside of the card.  Notice the little black kitty?  He is part of the die! Sweet!!!

Here is a closer look at the door knob and magnets.  The magnets are small, but uber strong and a dot of paper on each one makes is easier to open the door.

This is a look at the inside of the card The sentiment is computer generated.

Here is a close up of Tilda.  I paper pieced her heart.  She is colored with Copics.  The colors show so much brighter here than in real life..

A little Get Well fun...

I'm back again with another Dr. Monday M.D. project for you.  

I hope you had a very enjoyable weekend.  I've had two of my grandsons here for the past few days, so it's down to business for me again.  The summer has just flown by - I can hardly believe how fast it has gone!!

It's back to school again soon, I'm so glad I"m past those days.  Just looking at the commercials on TV is enough to drive you batty.  

Oh, but I digress. So Patty Jo and I have each come up with a project using Mini's and Dies from Magnolia-licious™.  If you don't possess any of these adorable munchkins, run, don't walk over to Diana's store and get some!!!

This week, I've pulled out of my hat a bit of a different project.  I made an impulse buy one day.  You've never done that before, right? ;-}

This is a new embossing folder (for me) and I thought if I cut out the middle of it it would make a super frame for my Mini.  Well not a bad idea, but wrong color.  This was actually my practice piece, but I surely didn't want it to go to waste, so I had to use it...you know how that goes!?

Here is the front of my card.  I have used #349 Frizzy Tilda and  Harriet the Turtle.  The images are masked, colored with Copic markers on X-Press It Blending Card. The sentiment is digital, but I can't find it in my file again. *sorry*
I used Spellbinders Labels 13 to mount the sentiment on.

Here is a cloer look at Frizzy and Harriet.  Kinda cute, eh?

On the inside of the card I used a larger size of Spellbinder Labels 13.  I put the two pieces of blending card together and stamped Harriet on them, and then of course separated them to be used on each side of the inside of the card.

So here is what the inside looks like.  The sentiments are computer generated.  There are no embellishments on this card so I guess it would qualify as a CAS card!

Happy Monday, again, my friends.  The Doctor is in - .5 cents plesase!  Do you remember the Peanuts cartoons, when Lucy would set up her little booth and snag Charlie Brown?  I love those cartoon strips!

It's Monday again and time for Patty Jo and I to share our Dr. Monday M. D. (mini's & dies) projects for this week.  I hope you'll take the time to visit her phenomenal blog.  

This week I have created several little business card holders.  How cute are these?  They are perfect for an embellishment with a Mini.  Here is a link to the website where I found the tutorial.  Easy peasy!  I even made a special one for my hairdresser! (It's the black and white one at the very bottom)

This is the one I made for my hairdresser.  The salon is done in black and white and it elegant looking.  I picked this DP especially to fit into the decor.  It sits proudly in her booth.  That way her business cards are close at hand when she makes up future appointments.

These were fun to make, they went together very quickly and used just scraps of DP and CS to make them.

I hope you have some mini's in your collection and will be inspired by my projects to create some for yourself.
