Friday Sketcher's Challenge 91

I've had a very busy weekend! My eldest daughter and her youngest child, my precious Kyle, came up for a visit. We have such a close relationship and I just adore it when she can get free and come and spend some time with us. We had a wonderful weekend together, visiting, going to church and shopping!

I wanted to work on a card for the Friday Sketcher's Challenge this week, and managed to steal a few hours for myself. I have such a hard time working with bright colors, preferring the softer pastels. I also have a hard time working with busy patterns. So this was a challenge in and of itself. I did want to use some of my Basic Grey Lemonade dp's which were a gift from a friend. So here's the card I came up with and I have to say, thank you Jacque for the inspiration on how to use the ribbon. I chose tulle instead of ribbon, so that you could see the paper through it.

I didn't have enough of that pretty Bluegreen paper to finish the inside of my card. I used some coordinating paper from the same Lemonade series to complete my card. The sheets are only 6X6, but I did find a little scrap of it to finish the bottom of the place where I will write my message. I used my new EK Success punch out that piece.

Today has been such a great day. I've accomplished a lot (besides burning my dinner because I was on the computer and forgot about it!). I finished up the inside of a card I had previous made to enter for a Guest DT call. Once I got that done I went to find some challenges I might partake of.

Over at Just Magnolia they are asking for birthday; and Cute Card Thursday who are looking for Ribbon. Well, we all need birthday cards made and ready to go, right? So I started thinking....hmmmmmm. Then I checked out Magnolia Down Under and they've had an Easel Card challenge all week. It has already expired...here I go again! I was late for their Easter Basket Challenge. I've got to pull myself together!! BUT, Easel cards are just so easy and quick to make, so I am happy to have this card finished in one day! Mission accomplished, wooohooooo!

So here's what I came up with...



I was going to use a different image, when I spotted this poor folorn Tilda, whom I had never even inked! Yikes!! I had bought the dp a long, long time ago, so I decided that I could make it a birthday card.

Christmas All Year Round - #2

Welcome back to the second Magnolia-licious Christmas All Year Round Blog Hop. I'm so excited to be participating again and big thanks to all the gals who participated and all who visited and left their comments in our first one. So I hope you'll enjoy this one and will be inspired to get some Christmas cards made for next year or at the very least, get some ideas for your cards for next year.

My card was inspired by Chris Dark's work. Here is a link to her fabulous blog! She is an amazing artist. In fact her work is featured on the cover of the very first edition of Magnolia Ink Magazine and she has some beautiful cards on the inside also. So I pretty much cased the card she did, and it has really inspired me to work more with my Distress Inks. Thanks Chris for such inspiration...

Here is my version, using Jolly Tilda (#3005) and the Snowy Circle (#482). You can purchase these from the Magnolia-licious store.

I cut out an extra pair of arms so that I could pop them up over the presents. The circle was colored with Distress inks as well and then I went over it with Stardust Stickles. I also painted some Startdust Stickles (my fav!) and kind of brushed over several places on the image and especially her socks.

Here is a side view to show her arms popped up...



The flowers, pearl spray and ribbon are all from my stash. The pearls in the centers of the white flowers were sprayed to match the color I needed with my ABS and Copic Marker. The Snowflakes are made with my MS punch and painted with even more Stickles. The white flowers are made with my new Nellie Snellen punch.



I didn't know how to finish the inside of my card, so I decided to repeat the presents by using Basket Filled with Presents (#446) It is also water colored with Distress inks.

For the bottom portion I just stamped the Snowy Circle again, on Magnolia dp, water colored it and used Stickles. All my panels are Magnolia dp, sewn on my machine and distresses with Vintage photo. I also used Nestabilities Large Circle Die and Large Scalloped Circle die.

Friday Sketch Challenge #90 with Angelina's Balloons

I had a little time today to work on this card for Friday's Sketcher's Challenge. This will be a very short post, as I have an important date tonight!!! With my new book! Awww, hubby and I had a date night last night so tonight I'm going to delve into a new book.

Here is what that sketch is for this week.



I tried my very best to keep this card very simple and clean - but failed miserably. It looked hopeless without flowers and pearls on it. So after struggling for hours trying to keep it simple, I added the leaf branches, three mini roses and some pearls. Now I feel much better...



I placed tiny half back self adhesive pearls onto each scallop around the circle. I took a photo of the Copics I used, but deleated it by error so now I can't show you what I used. The Circle and Scalloped circle are Nestabilities. The sentiment is computer generated. The ribbon is from my stash and as always, the flowers and leaves were sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

This sweet image is from Mo's Digital Pencil and is called Angelina's Balloons! LOVE the static in her hair! That just tickled my funny bone!!

Here is the long promised inside of my card. It took me several days due to a loosing battle with procrastination! I really love how this turned out...

Sisters....

I have two sisters and I'm in the middle. When we were kids and the Sears Catalog would come in, my older sister and I would lie on the floor, side by side and for hours we would play "Look what I got" As the pages turned we would each declare ownership over what was on your perspective side of the page. Sometimes you got something cool on your page and the other didn't. When you got something like girdles then you would say "Look what I got" with a rather dejected voice. We would laugh through the entire catalog. What great memories I have of all the fun times we had together. I bet you played similar games with your sister or maybe brother, especially when the Christmas catalog came out.

That very same sister will be celebrating her birthday on St. Patrick's day and every year I send her a St. Patrick's type birthday card. Well, not THIS year! I made her a card that depicts just how I feel about her. She's the best big sister in the entire world!

I just had to computer generate that "Look what I got" because there isn't a stamp out there that say's that! Please notice also that I've kept my flowers to a minimum on this card. I will still have to make an envelope box for it!

I used a Mo's Digital Pencil image called sisters. I bought the image with this card in mind, though the formula of it was still like feathers in the wind in my mind. You can find this image and many more in her shop, and they are all as beautifully illustrated as this one is.

The inside of the card is quite a bit more simple. I printed my sentiment (which reads "...the best big sister in the world! Happy Birthday!")and cut it with my Nestability circle die and scalloped circle die. I added some pearls around a small portion of the sentiment. Above that panel is the same ribbon as used on the front and a bow made using my Bow Easy with a little angel charm hanging from the bow. The other side of the angel says "Made for an Angel". I use my SU scalloped edge punch across the bottom and added a small pearl to each scallop.



Here are the markers I used. I had to divide them up because they wouldn't all fit into my container and since the Caio markers have no numbers on the ends, I just layed them across the top of the container with their color #'s showing.

Tilda Throwing Heart Rice - again!

Another card is done and oh, how I've enjoyed this one! This is made for three challenges, Stamptacular want "Love is in the air" Just Magnolia wanted a "Love" theme (and who doesn't at this time of year?) and Roses on Paper have a color challenge - Pink, Brown and Cream. Well, I dove right into it and have enjoyed all of these challenges. I'm also enjoying my free time so that I can devote more hours to my crafting.

I went hunting for just the right papers for this card, and though I didn't really like this paper at first, and I've had it for eons, (it's just generic) I think it turned out to be the perfect fit. I matched it with SU Blush Blossom, Chocolate Chip and both images are stamped on SU Very Vanilla. I used some ribbon from my stash, my much loved flowers and pearl sprays and a newly added sweet heeart charm to the inside.

As you can see, I used Throwing Heart Rice Tilda, available here and colored her very softly to match my papers...

Here is a close-up view of my ribbon, to which I added my beloved flowers, all sprayed with Glimmer Mist (Pearl). I didn't add leaves to this flower arrangement, but I did 'paint' Stardust Stickles on the flowers and the curlie-cues.




Here's a view of the inside of my card. I used another Tilda image, Tilda on Elbows, because I thought her hair was so similar to the Throwing Heart Rice Tilda. I didn't use the heart punch on the inside, because I didn't want to overshadow the sweet Tilda I used.

My "Love" themed hAnglar Card...

I was so blessed to receive in the mail yesterday, quite a few hAnglar stAnglar images from Leonie in Australia. The exiting part of this story is that these images are only sold in Sweden, Norway and Finland. You must know someone who lives there to be able to purchase them for you. So not only was SHE excited to get her hands on two sheets of images, she was generous enough to share them with me and stamped off one of every image she had. So needless to say, I'm in hAnglar heaven!

Last night I began to color my image with Prisma Color Pencils, as I was unsure what kind of ink she had used. Fortuately she used Memento ink so I will be able to use my Copics on the other images.

This card was made to cover several challenges. Cute Card Thursday wants a 'Love' theme as does The Pixie Cottage. Friday Sketch Challenge gave me the sketch, hosted by Aud this week and a very versatile sketch it is.



Here's what I've done with my card...



I don't have any names for my images :-( I know each of them have a name but I don't have that information.



I used white cardstock from my stash and Swiss Dot cardstock from my LSS. The dp is from Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses. Behind my image I used my Nestability Fleur de Lis punch, the ribbon is SU Bravo Burgandy and just a piece of tulle from my stash. The heart also is from my stash. The butterflies and flowers are all sprayed with glimmer mist, the pearl spray is from my stash and the pin was purchased from England. The leaf branches and butterflies are both MS punches. I used Stardust stickles on the wings of my image.
