Bronte and Bella Sledding

I'm so excited! I made another card today. This time I used one of my new images from Mo's Digital Pencil. She has all kinds of new images and is uploading almost every day.

Here is my "Bronte and Bella Sledding" card. I used VERY non traditional colors taken from the dp I've had for years. I mounted both layers on black just to make the image pop!

These digital images are so fun because you can size them to fit any card. I printed the image on Cryogen White and colored with Copic markers. The little charm hanging from the ribbon (May Art) is a Christmas Tree with a little star on top.

Sittin' n' Thinkin'

Last week I was sittin' n' thinkin' which of my newest Tilda's and accessories I wanted to use for the Friday Sketch Challenge. So I made my decision and started planning my card. I've worked hard all week taking every piece of time I could fit in to work on her. I checked on the sketch blog Thursday, yesterday, and found that the challenge was closed already! Achhhhhhh! I didn't get my card finished until just this morning! It has taken me all week to make one card. So much is keeping me busy these days and their names are Josslyn and Brielle! LOL Okay, at least I got something made.

I made lots of changes along the way. I decided to make two of her and layer them for more dimension. I made three layers of the little pink flowers on each side of the Bible, I changed the color of her shoes, I changed the dp, I decided to use glitter on the flowers and add leaves and glitter them too. All of these changes to my original plan took up more time than I realized. Decisions, decisions!

So it didn't make it in time for the challenge, but it's done and waiting for a good home...

While hubby's away.....

My hubby left on Thursday to attend his family reunion. Originally I was going with him and the three kids too! Then I realized that traveling with two crawling babies an active three year old and ALL the equipment was too much for us to cope with. So I've stayed behind while he went to South Carolina. As it turned out, it was a good thing, since his mother had become deathly ill just a few days prior to his leaving and he and the family have spent the entire time sitting at her bedside in ICU the entire time. No place for kiddos.

My eldest sweet daughter brought her three year old, Kyle, and spent the weekend with me helping me with the load. I really needed her too! She just pitched in and helped in every way and even let me go back to bed both mornings and get a little more shut eye. Bless her sweet heart.

So while I have several brand new Maggies sitting on my desk just crying out for me to use them, I decided to go back to some cards I'd already made and finish the inside of each of them and make an envelope to match.

So here we go...

Did you notice the charm on the inside. I found these at the bead shop in Salado, Texas. They just looked like little Magnolia Tilda's to me so I bought a little bag of them. 10 for $1.00! You can't beat that price...

I had used some water color flowers on this Tilda, but some way or another some water got splattered on the card and the flowers ran. So to save the card, I used some of my Flower Soft to place over where the watercolor flowers were. Ohhhh! I like this so much better.

More recently I did two digital image cards. I just wasn't happy at all with the Prairie girl I did, so I took off the Dew drops and added buttons tied with Crafter's Floss and I also punch out some leaves in Old Olive and Really Rust, painted them with Copper Stickles, painted the petals of the flowers with the same and it looks much better. I'm not all that sure that it suits the style of the card, but it sure looks better than my first attempt! Here is my revamped card...



That's all I accomplished this weekend. It took me quite a while, longer than I first thought because of all the kids in the house and the constant demand of two three year olds and two 14 month olds. Even with the extra pair of hands it was still a harrowing experience. My hubby ows me big time!

Sitting Pretty

This is one of the new Summer images from Magnolia. I think she is just adorable and I had bought this paper just for her. I chose a July sketch from Friday Sketcher's Challenge blog. You can find more sketches here.



The pale blue flowers with green and chocolate accents were an easy choice for this Tilda. I added the pink and yellow to perk it up a little!

Another Digital Image - Prairie Girl

While the babies are busy playing in the toy box in the living room I have a few minutes to post another digital image I've done. This is from the same company (www.digitalpenciltoo.com) and I chose to paper piece this one. I copied the "plain" image and then printed again on this scrap of autumn paper I've had for years. I colored the image with Copics, then added the dress.

Here's my card:



The edges are all sponged with Dried Marigold Distress Ink and the larger panel is sewn to a panel of Pumpkin Pie. The card base is More Mustard. I used some 1/4" More Mustard ribbon on either side of some 5/8" Old Olive. The flowers are Prima with a Dew Drop for the center. Dew Drops are in each folded corner as well. The charm is one I've had for quite a while. It's 3-D like a tiny locket but it doesn't open.

I did the inside of the card also, but didn't have enough dp left over to do much with. I kept it pretty simple with no embellishments.The scalloped edges were done with my SU scalloped edge punch. All circles were cut with my Nestabilities dies.



There was no paper left to make a matching envelope so I decided to make one with some coordinating paper and carried the circle theme to the envelope as well.

Twins in TuTu's

You may have thought I'd gone off the deep end when I switched my stamping style to "cutesy" and began purchasing Magnolia's. That's the only stamping I've been doing since April...but now I've gone into deeper water. I purchased my very first digital images (Digital Pencil Too)the other night and have been busy printing them off. I've seen quite a number of digital images made into cards floating around and have checked out a dozen or so websites to see what it was all about. I'm not sure that I have fully comprehended the full spectrum of this new way of creating images, but I saw some I just couldn't resist and jumped right in! This card was made for the Three Clover Designs challenge this week which is to use digital images or paper.

Of course, I just had to get this image of Twins in Tutu's. Since we have color coded earings on the babies because they are soooo alike, I decided that I had to color these precious little ones in pink and green to match. Josslyn in green and Brielle in pink!

Now something else I've begun to do is finish the inside of my cards. I use some left over paper so that I don't have so much filling up my scrap bin. It's almost as challenging to finish the inside as it is to do the outside of the card. I try to keep it fairly simple, not too much in the embellishment department, but that may change with time. Here is the inside of my card:



I've also begun to make my own envelopes to match. I have had some difficulty finding envelopes for these larger sized cards - this one measures 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 inches, and with multiple layers, sewing and the embellishments the card is rather thick. I had purchased The Enveloper some time back, and it's perfect for making envelope boxes that give room for all the added frills. Here is my card standing beside the envelope box I made:



Most of my coloring is done with Copic Markers, and I'm still adding more to my collection each month. I also enjoy using my Prisma Color Pencils. Here are the Copic Markers I used on this card:

Friday Sketch Challenge Birthday Card

Well, I thought I had all my birthday cards made, but found myself lacking just one. So I've been scrambling this weekend to get a card done to send to my friend (whom I don't see often enough). I hope it will arrive in time for her to enjoy.

I used this week's Friday Sketch Challenge for my card and two of the Summer Tilda images. I pulled out some old retired SU designer paper called Darling Doodles and thought it looked festive enough to use for a birthday card. Thanks to someone in the Magnolia-licious Yahoo group for posting a chart of the SU colors and the Copic Markers that were closest to them. That was so helpful in getting this card under way.

When it came to doing the inside of the card, since I only had one image of Beach Tilda, I decided to use another summer image that has the same hair style. Ice Cream Tilda was just perfect, because what is better for a birthday celebration than ice cream?



I suppose I should have laid the card flat to take a better picture, but I have a three year old sitting right beside me, I mean RIGHT beside me and I just needed to get the picture taken.

Now that I have the card finished, it won't fit any of the envelopes I have, so, of course, I had to make one to match. It's not ornate, no hand stitching or anything, just a matching envelope with a space on the front for the address. I was in a huge hurry to get this done and deal with the boy!!!

The sentiments are both computer generated.
Paper used: White, Cryogen White, Groovy Guava, Kiwi Kiss and Brocade Blue, Darling Doodles dp by SU.
Flowers: Prima Flowers, flowers and beads from wedding department of Hobby Lobby. Other: Groovy Guava ribbon by SU. Assorted pop dots, dimensionals and ScorTape.

I hope she will enjoy it, and know the love that went into it.

Bookmark

The challenge has gone out for the September Homepage over at Magnolia-licious Yahoo group. We are supposed to create a bookmark. I have tried several different methods of creating a satisfactory bookmark and this is my very last try! I also challenged myself in a couple of areas.

1. Find the time to do this project. (see post below this)
2. Use the color purple - very hard for me to do.

So here is what I've come up with:

Here's what I did. I used an old SU bookmark and placed it between a folded sheet of dp then cut out the shape. This was to give my bookmark some thickness and make it sturdy. I then glued the three layers together using my ScorTape. I had colored my Tilda with Copic Markers then used my Small Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestability dies to cut her out. I added white dots to the scallop and doodles to the plain oval shape. Then I decided that she needed to be ON something so I drew in a book! What better prop for Tilda to lean on for a bookmark than a book?

The white ribbon is just some generic stuff I have on a roll and the grosgrain is SU Eggplant. I tied the bow using my Bow Easy.

That's it! It took me all week, but I think I'll enjoy using it...when I have time to read...

From me to you...

I've had a very busy week...make that a couple of busy weeks! I have managed to get one card made but I was down sick over the weekend having contracted a stomach virus somewhere, but I'm better now, fever is gone and my energy level is almost back up to normal.

Here is a card I did manage to get finished, though it was started over a week ago...it was made using the Friday Sketcher's Challenge for this week.



I decided to join the Magnolia-licious Mingle for August. This is a one on one swap where you make a card using a Magnolia image and send it to the person who's name appears beneath yours on the list. I won't reveal who the recipient of this card is, just in case she checks out my blog. But of course she can always go back to the list and check it for herself.

This image was received from a friend, who stamped me out some images on different kinds of paper to see what I thought. This image was done on Manga Paper. It worked pretty well, but took up a lot of ink. However it blended really well. I'm not sure what the name of this Tilda is, as I believe she is directly from Sweden.

I really struggled with embellishments on this card. I tried one thing and then another and everything seemed to overwhelm my image and the sketch that I used. I loved the sketch, and I even tried out some fancy stitching around my base circle. Finally in the end, after a little Un-Do was applied, I reduced the size of my embellishments and kept them pretty simple.

The tag was cut on my Cricut using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. Then I used the sentiment from SU So Many Sayings and my Big Ugly stamp positioner to get it set up correctly.

Magnolia-licious Blog Challenge for August

This is just a short post today. The babies are playing in their brother's room while I vacuum the house, but I stole a few precious moments to upload this card. This is my entry for the August Card Sketch over at Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog.



This was such a fun challenge, but I have to admit that I completely redid this card. My original was not at all the way I wanted it to be, so I used my Undo, made changes in the dp layout and added more stitching. I have removed my original card.
