It's finally done...my Christmas Advent Box

It is finally finished and it's such a relief! I've been working on this box for some time now and I finally got it completed this afternoon.

I have to admit that when I noticed one drawer was tilted, I lost interest in the project! I'm an incurable perfectionist and stuff like that drives me crazy. Still, I had to move on and as I have been unable to change the angle as the box was glued together. It's been a lot of work making this and I won't make another!

Here are the pictures I took...

Here is Tilda with presents and Snowman:

Merry Christmas Tilda and Tilda with a sled:

This is the top of my box:

Drawer 20 the crooked one - sigh!

I love this sweet snowman image:

When I received my copy of the new Magnolia Ink magazine and read the instructions for doing the boxes, they had rounded off the corners of the inner folds of the drawers. Oh, how I wish I had known that before I attempted this box...

Each of the Magnolia images is mounted on a piece of dp that has been sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist. It gave the paper such a pretty shimmer. The top of the box was also sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist after it was colored.

The numbers were computer generated and puched out with my SU! 3/4" punch. The little knobs on the drawers were purchased at Michael's. All images were colored with Copic Markers and the snow on the top of the box is Flower Soft Polar White. The fur on the Tilda images is Liquid Applique.

Now back to work....

  3. It's beautiful, Barb! I love the papers you used and your coloring is always top notch! And so what a drawer is crooked! It just proves that it's handmade! Just tell them you did it on pupose! :) I think it's gorgeous, and I can't imagine the hours of time youve got invested in it. Don't be so hard on yourself. I love it! big hugs!

  4. Oh my gosh, this is a labor of love and what a stunning result. It is absolutely gorgeous. Don't worry about the slightly crooked drawer. Have you heard of the Persian Principle.. when a hand loomed Persian carpet is made they alwyas make a slight flaw as they feel they
should never presume they are as perfect as God. Your drawer is your part of the Persian Principle.

What do you put in the drawers?

  6. Oh Barb!
Your box is excellent and most beautiful!!! I know for us pefectionists it is hard to see something like the drawer in a possitve way. BUT you will probably be the only one to notice it and the person you give this to is going to treasure it forever. Don't forget when we make something from our heart is received with much pleasure and excitment, no matter what wee mistake it may have.
I love it and think you have done a ton of wonderful work on it.
    Big hugs, Candy

  7. By the way Barb - the same principal is with a quilt. People put an error onto on purpose because ONLY GOD is perfect :o)

  20. Barb, Barb, Barb! What are we gonna do with you? Your project is gorgeous and I think you need therapy about obsessing over one small part of it. LOL! Most of us will never even attempt anything so time consuming and tedious. It is just another sign of our humanity, and isn't it wonderful that our GOD sees your box as "Perfect" like he sees all believers! Halleluiah! Get over it!Love you, Martha

  22. Wow Barb, I have been waiting to see this amazing creation and I have not been disappointed, it is just stunning. Your papers, images and colouring beautiful. I would not have noticed the crooked drawer if you had not pointed it out, just turn it to the back. You can see the amount of work & love you have poured into it. Thanks for the inspiration.
