A Happy family on their last night together...

Just before Earl and Lisa got on the road to begin their long journey to New York I got them to sit down for a family photo. This photo was taken today, October 23, while all the other pictures were taken last night. I don't know how on earth to get everyone looking at the camera at the same time, but this was as close as I could get.
This is definitely not the most flattering picture of me, but it was kind of fun to put the babies into the front carriers - hers is a Snugli and mine is a Moby Wrap, and we carried the babies around for a little while. They were both very content.
Lisa gave each of the babies a bath, while I bathed Jordy and got him ready for bed. This is Brielle, and I know that because we took them toWalmart and bought a gold bracelet to put on Brielle for identification purposes. The men were busy trying to get their computers synchronized for the use of our web-cam. It was a very difficult evening for this young family, doing some things with their children for the very last time for the next year.

Daddy and daughter, I don't know which baby this is, but they were having some fun making faces at each other.

This sweet couple won't actually begin the count down for their year of deployment until they actually deploy, so the children could actually be with us for 14 months from now!

  7. Oh my goodness.....I stumbled upon your blog after reading a post on Lisa Somerville's blog about the gift challenge. After looking at your gift, I started to scroll down to see your other projects and saw the pictures of this sweet young family. I was a little confused as to what was going on, so I read further and further and read other stories about other children and I finally gathered that you are a foster mom!! I am just in awe of your generous heart!! You and your husband have made huge sacrifices in your life by taking care of all of these babies. They are so lucky to have such loving people in their lives.
The other reason this family touched me so, is that my husband is also in the Army National Guard and has served in Iraq and will be going to Afghanistan in January 2010. My husband had a horrible time leaving his children behind for 18 months, as do all parents who leave to server their country. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like as a child having both parent over-seas!! God bless you and Bill and this precious family!! Thank you for sharing your stories with us. I will follow your journey in the next several months! Take care...
