Oh my word...it's time for the Magnolia-licious September Blog Hop and you are in for a very special treat!
The challenge for the DT was to decorate the new Magnolia Mini World Binder to show what could be done with it. I have to say that the Binder all by itself is rather pretty with the Mini world emblem across the bottom and on the spine in a pretty soft teal color. Coming up with the design for it was a wee bit of a challenge but once my idea solidified I was off to the races.
Since this is a blog hop, I hope that you'll start at the beginning and follow all the way through, because the DT have been doing some fantastic work to show you. If you arrived here from the incredibly talented Sharon Caudle's blog then you're headed in the right direction. From here you'll hop on over to the equally talented Janiel's blog to see her fabulously creative binder! I hope you'll get some inspiration to purchase the binder to store and catalog all your mini's in. You can also apply your in store credit towards the purchase of the binder so that makes it quite affordable. You can find the binder here and it comes with plastic storage pages, which store two images back to back and nine per page. The little card inserts are ready for you to stamp and leave room for you to catalog the images. This means that in one page you can store 18 images. Here's what they look like...
Well now, on to my binder and the design that I came up with. I decided to make the front of mine a calendar. Starting with January and moving across the top from left to right I colored twelve images representing the twelve months of the year. I have used some Bazzill cardstock, a sheet of designer paper which I purchased out of town and don't remember the name of and then die cut twelve Spellbinder Lacy Edge Squares which measure about 2 1/2 inches. My image squares are 2 inches, and are colored with copics on XpressIt Blending card. I used Distress ink tattered rose and weathered wood with a aqua pen for the backgrounds. The exception is the March image where I used broken china for the cloud pattern and copics for the ground.
Here are the images I used on my Binder:
January - #109 Tilda and Edwin Skating - New Years 2009
February - #341 Tilda Blowing Hearts - Love Collection 2009
March - #3020 Tilda with a Kite - Sweet Rainbow Collection 2011
April - #3035 Tilda in Summer Rain - Sweet Rainbow Collection 2011
May - #250 Tilda with Butterfly Dress - Butterfly Dreams 2011
June #368 Tilda with Bike
July - #3029 Tilda with star Dress - Sweet Rainbow Collection 2011
August - #389 Peachy Tilda - A little Yummy for your Tummy 2009
September - #229 Cowgirl Tilda - Bon Voyage Collection 2010
October - #394 Devil Tilda - So Spooky Collection 2009
November - #350 Native American Tilda - Bon Voyage Collection 2010
December - #3074 Tilda Hanging Ornaments - Christmas Collection
All of these images are available at Diana's Magnolia-licious shop.
Here are some close up views of my images:
This is a view of the entire Binder showing the Magnolia emblem at the bottom...
I wanted to do something special on the spine of my binder also. I tied some ribbon to a clasp ring (which is attached to the opening mechanism for the binder rings) and then added some buttons, beads and two more images using the Magnolia Vintage Tag die. I used #307 Nurse Tilda - Winner Takes All collection and #202 Basketball Tilda from the same collection.
Whew! This is a rather long post and I hope I haven't bored you with all the photos. You're really going to enjoy seeing all the binder the DT have decorated. Don't forget to head on over to Janiel's blog and get inspired with her awesome binder.
Hugs,
Barb
