My dear man has been experiencing much pain in his ankle of late and had cut back his work to half time and then to not working at all. Yesterday we went back to the Orthopedic Surgeon and the xrays revealed that, due to full weight bearing much too soon, the bone has collapsed just above his ankle. There are several broken screws and the Dr can shift his leg bones around much too easily. We were both devastated! We will enjoy a wonderful family Christmas and then prepare for surgery -again- on the 28th. This time they will have to retract the broken screws and add a piece of bone from his hip (ouch) and graft it into the bottom of his Tibia. Then more screws in place and possibly the replacement of one plate which has slid down toward the ankle because of the broken screws. So again we're facing several month of rehabilitation, and hopefully he has learned his lesson and will not insist on going back to work before those bones (tiny fragments actually) are completely healed.
Wishing you all the very best for a wonderful Christmas and a healthy 2011!
Hugs,
Barb

Barb, I am so sorry to hear the hubby is not doing so well. Men just seem to have to be so bullheaded and not admit they aren't 100%.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year in spite of the health issues hubby has.
I will pray for his total, rapid and complete recovery from all of this.
Huggeroonies,
Kathy

ReplyDeleteWhy is it that men think they are so invulnerable or that they can heal faster than normal....men are all the same the world over.
