December Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge

Hi all! Welcome to the December Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge. This month Diana challenged her team to make a Name Frame/Letter Frame. Interpret this in any creative way you would like.

A couple of years ago I got busy making a name frame for my Granddaughter, but for some reason or another, I never did get it finished, or the three children arrived to live with us and I never found the time to get it finished. Well, not so this year. This year my granddaughter is going to get this for Chritmas and it's already stashed away with the "to be wrapped" pile!

I thought at first that I would add a letter to the frame, but after painting the letter and holding it up beside the frame I nixed that idea. So how it's a separate piece and she can just sit it on her shelf somewhere.

So here is the name frame I had made, but it's all gussied up with flowers, pearls, a Tilda, some Chandalier Glass and everything is glitz and glammed with Pearl Glimmer Mist.

I had colored this image eons ago and found her hiding on top of my speciality paper shelves. Whoda thunk she would fit perfectly into this frame? Here is a close up view of my Tilda...

I ran out to Michaels (less than a block from my house) to get a letter to attach to the frame, and painted it blue with some acrylic paint that I had on hand and colored another Tilda to put on that. However I wasn't happy with the way it was looking together with the frame, so I've made it a separate piece for Lindsey.

Here is the letter and the frame together and you can see the pearl swirls I added to the opposite side of the frame from the flowers...

Here is a closer view of the flowers...

I have a few other small items to include in her Christmas gift - I hope she will like this name frame!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and I really hope you be inspired to create your own name/letter frame or door hanger or however you interpret this challenge.

Blessings and hugs,
Barb

  3. Barb, your granddaughter is so going to love this. Wonderful colour combo (and blue my fave colour). I find these older version of Tilda just as adorable as the newer ones. Your colouring of them is fabby (as usual). Beautiful flower arrangement—looks terrific with all the glimmer mist. Love your framed project!

And here I thought I was lucky to have a brand new Michaels (only 2 months old) opened in my neighbourhood just a 20-25 minutes walk from my place. But less than a block! woo hoo, that’s like…your own personal craft store...LOL.
