Christmas Countdown...

I got this idea after visiting my LSS. A customer had made a Christmas Countdown Calendar using the little Party Favor Tins (Michael's), lots of 3-D decorations on top and then used magnets to secure them to a cookie tray. The light bulb went off in my head and I thought it would be adorable to do with Magnolia images. So I came home and jumped right into this project. I already had 30 little tins which I had bought about 2 years ago, but had only used one to two. The paper and ribbon I had in excess, so it has really been cost effective. It's taken me only about 8 hours in all, start to almost finished. I had to find enough images with faces small enough to fit into my SU! 1 3/8" circle punch. No problem! Using images from various collections and some that were sent to me I came up with 22 different little faces. I knew I wanted to use the sentiments, which I ordered from Sweden, for the first and last day. This has been such a fun project.

Each image is mounted on a Real Red scalloped circle punch (SU!) and glued to the lid of the tin. Each tin base has a strip of Christmas paper wrapped around it while the lids have ribbon. I put a piece of magnet to the bottom of each tin so they would attach to the cookie tray.

Here is a side view of the little tins on the tray:

I covered the bottom of the cookie sheet with some pretty paper, having to match up just one seam. The problem I ran into was that the only cookie sheets that will take a magnet are also teflon coated and my scortape wouldn't stick to it. After thinking about it over night, I decided to spray the sheet with Craft Bond adhesive and then restick my paper. Perfect!

Still not finished! I want to do something with the handles, or have the tray hanging from a large bow. I will have to wait until tomorrow to get some very wide wire edged ribbon. I was so excited about this project that I just couldn't wait to show you. I will get some little candies to place inside each of the tins and we'll be ready for December 1st!!
