October Home Page Entry

Each month, Magnolia-licious yahoo group has a challenge for it's members. By random selection one entry is chosen to grace the home page for an entire month. For the upcoming month the theme is Halloween. I don't normally do Halloween card's but I received a mysterious package in the mail last week. One of the members very generously, and anonymously, sent me several stamped images from the Halloween collection of Magnolia Tilda's. I was so overwhelmed by her kindness, that I put aside the card I was working on and began to formulate the plan for my card. I wanted to use both of the Tilda images she sent me and the pumpkins and the darling bat. It was a challenge to figure out how to use them all until I decided to do a Tri-Fold Shutter card. I also had to go a purchase some Halloween paper which was no problem at all. And, while I was already at the store, I bought two punches to enhance my card. So now that all was gathered together, on with the work.

It took me several days to pull this card together. I did a lot of planning about where I wanted things before I cut anything. So here is the final result...

This is side one...yes! I did a two sided card, how else could I get two Tilda's on one card...hence all the planning!

A closer look at Tilda with a spider...

Since I cut both of my Tilda's out, I also had to cut off the spider that Tilda is holding on the string tied to her thumb. This is where my friend, Millie, came to the rescue. She had a bag of Halloween confetti, which she brought over to the house, since the babies are sick and I'm not going anywhere. I used the black spider from her confetti, suspended it on a piece of black sewing thread and popped him up with a black pop dot.

Here is side two...

I used my Cricut to cut out the word Boo! I used SU! Summer Sun cardstock as a moon behind Tilda. I also used it to mount Tilda with a Spider on and then cut close to my image. I also mounted my black and purple dp onto Green Galore just to make a nice contrast. The bats on this paper are rubberized, which gives a really cool texture to the card.

Here is a closer view of the Pumpkins...

All images were colored with Copic markers. Spider Web and Picket Fence punches are by Martha Stewart. Scor-Tape and dimensional pop dots were used to adhere all images.

This card is already sold, which has thrilled me no end. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my latest, and fun creation.

  23. Wow Barb! This card is outstanding. My friend and I have been struggling with tri-fold cards for about two months now. We have to disagree with everyone who claims these cards are easy-peazy. The most frustrating part is that we thought we followed the written directions to a "T". Oh well. Maybe your fab card will inspire us to try one more time. Outstanding job on yours. Sorry to hear the babes are sick.
