I was challenged last week to create a Magnolia card using my Prisma Color Pencils instead of my Copic Markers. I'm always up for a challenge and so here is the card I created. Thanks Pam for challenging me...
I think I'm doing this all backwards. I am coloring my images first, then trying to find a dsp to match. I'm going to have to change that up. Fortunately I just happened to have some paper with the right orange, blue and green it in. I very loosely followed a "Spoon Full of Sugar Sketch" for this one. I didn't use three different shades of the same color to create my Edwin as I do with my Copics, instead I used the same color and varied the shade by density. Quite a challenge...
Here is a close up of Edwin. I don't know where the spot on his mouth area came from, it's not there on the card, at least not to the naked eye:
My DH and I had a wonderful time in San Antonio this weekend, and now I will have to get busy and count my Points again with great diligence.
The babies and Jordan arrived safely in Florida tonight, a day later than expected, so after several phone calls to DPS to find out if there had been an accident - we were worried sick - all arrived in good shape, and are glad to be out of the car...
I hope you enjoy what I've done with Edwin and will leave a word of encouragement...
Barb, he is as cute as can be...colored beautifully!!! I love all of those happy, cheerful colors...He looks so full of mischief...lol...Hugs..Jacque
ReplyDeleteI love the way he turned out. I love the dirt he is standing on and even the little dot on his face that isn't really there. Reminds me of a little boy kicking around the dirt whistling. Great job!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, Barb. This is just adorable! Great job with the pencils. I can't even imagine going back to try and use pencils. Awesome colors too! Another fabulous card! I love it!! hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh my Edwin is so sweet!! He looks like a little fella just a walk'n down the street on his way...somewhere..Great job with your shading!!
ReplyDeleteYou have been so encouraging through this whole process of adopting Ruthie. I just wanted to say thanks and I really do appreciate all of your words and prayers.
ReplyDeleteBlessings

ReplyDeleteHi Barb,
ReplyDeleteOh Edwin is a cutie on your card!! Great colours and paper. I don't think I could colour first and then find paper to match. You did that beautifully.
Hugs, Candy
Hi Barb, nice to see your card posted. I was checking for any new cards from your blog for the last few days. Very cute Edwin and love your coloring too. LOL, I usually colored my images first before choosing the DP :op

Wow I love what you did with him. I don't tend to lean towards the Edwins too much for some reason but this one looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteOh I think Edwin looks adorable (he may just have a bit of chocolate on his mouth....lol)! And it looks like you did a great job finding just the right paper to complement him.
ReplyDeleteVery nice job!

Jodi =)
He is wonderful Barb! Look you used prismas and still got tons of compliments on your coloring. You may have just inspired some of the girls to try a different medium once in awhile. Keep watch I may be posting a copic image soon!LOL! Us Magnolia-lious gals aren' boring! We know how to mix it up!LOL!
ReplyDeleteI too do things backwards and pick my papers last. It may take me a couple of days...but what the heck Rome wasn't built in a day! Plus our "babies" deserve a lot of thought and attention.
You cards turn out perfect no matter what you choose to color with or how you choose your papers!
Hey may we try watercoloring next???LOL!
Hugs,
Pam

(just so you know where to find me! Ha!)
Barb, you did a terrific job with those coloured pencils. I've got a set too, but am not using them. Somebody should set a challenge for them then we'll be forced to use them--LOL.
ReplyDeleteThat aside your card is wonderful. Love your colour scheme and I like the DP's you've chosen. This Edwin image is so cute.
Hugs.
