Tilda as a Christmas Angel...
Hi everyone, I have another card finished. WoooooHooooo! It just takes me so long these days to get anything completed. I don't understand why!!?? Anyway, I have received a number of new Magnolia images of late, and of course I'm just itchin' to get them inked and colored. And why am I still making Christmas Cards? I want to make sure that I have a good supply for next year and many of the images I've just received are Christmas images. They just MUST be used.
I wanted to give Water coloring with distress inks a try again as I've loved the work the gals in Europe are doing with them. My first two attempts ended in the trash can, but I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I'm getting the idea of how to work with them...
I'm using Strathmore 300gm Water Color Paper and have experimented in using both sides of the paper. I like the look I get with the rough side, but the smoother side works well also. I've used distress reinkers and pads for my medium and it takes so little of the ink and you could color quite a few images with just one drop. I'm also using the SU Aqua Brush, as that gives me the best control.
Here is the card I've done...
And a close up on my water coloring...
I used my new Magnolia papers on this card, distress the edges with Vintage Photo, sewed my layers together and sprayed each layer with Pearl Glimmer Mist. I used Stickles on the wings and stars and Spica Gel Pen on the band around her head. My flowers were white, but I used my new Air Brush System to give them a more muted tone of brown then sprayed them with glimmer mist also. The leaves got the same treatment. The sentiment is from Magnolia and I used my Nestabilities to cut out the shape and attached them to my bow with some silver chain.
Since I didn't have lots of the paper to finish the inside I just had to use some strips. Since I had punched out the scalloped circle from the one piece I needed to come up with a way to cover that hole. I again used my Nestabilites and put the little angel's face in the center. My sentiment is mounted on one of my new Nestabilities Fancy Tags and popped up off the paper. Again all the edges were distressed with Vintage Photo.
A close up of Tilda on the inside of my card...
Thanks for stopping by my blog to look at my latest creation. Your comments are warmly appreciated...

Hi Barb! Your Tilda is as sweet as she can be! You're ahead of me in trying the distress reinkers! I bought them all a long time ago and still pick up my copics first! lol Now, I hear there are more distress colors coming! As if we don't already have enough, that's why it takes us so long to create something! So many decisions! lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome card and design Barb!
thanks for inspiring!

ReplyDeleteThis last year, I made an effort to post a Christmas card on my blog on the 25th of each month. It worked really well. By Christmas, my cards were all done.
Happy New Year Barb...Great Angel Tilda on your card. I am still trying to finish up my Friday Sketchers card from last week. : ( SOOO slow I am! Our grand daughters take most of my time so I understand why it takes you a long time to finish a card too. You will have to share with me what you do with the Distress Inks "exactly". Love and hugs, Martha

ReplyDeleteYour card is just wonderful - as always.Your water colouring is fantastic with the re-inkers. I used to do water colour all the time and have started to buy the re-inkers to try it with them.I don't have enough as yet. I would love to know what colour you are using for Tilda's flesh/ face?
