Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

I wanted to have this card finished up yesterday so that I could enter it in the Friday Sketcher's Challenge. This past week the sketch was hosted by Jacqui, who is very talented indeed. Alas, I have a rather nasty cold, and I gave up and went to bed at 8:00 when the kids were down. The deadline was midnight...sigh!

Today, during nap time, while the boy was home from school but watching some TV, I found the time to finish it up. I just love the images from Mo as you can tell. This little choir is just far too cute and fun to color because of the different ethnicities of the children.

Here is a close up of the sweet children:

Making the decision of how to embellish the front of a card is always a challenge - well at least for me. I tried several different ideas that just weren't working, so I resorted to my flowers one more time. As always I spray flowers and the branches, punch out with my MS punches, with Glimmer mist to bring them to life and glamour them up and use pins to add interest. The smaller red rose buds were purchased at Michaels in the clearance bin (they came as a bunch) for only 78 cents. Now that's a deal!!

The inside of this card was pretty easy. A simple piece of SU! Real Red grosgrain, as used on the front, with a bow made with my Bow Easy and a Christmas Tree charm completed the one side nicely, while I used the reverse side of the dp - Bo Bunny "It's the Season Deck the Halls" for the 'note' side . I fell in love with this paper instantly because to me it has the look of porcelain. I cut out one tree image from a scrap, backed it with chipboard to give it some weight then popped it up on the "note" side of the card. I then added a small red star to the top of it on a thin strip of pop dot. I noticed that all the trees on this paper had a red star topping them off, and I wanted to continue the theme.

I will have to make a special envelope for this one, that is more like a box being 3/4" in depth. I recently purchased the Box Envelope template from priscillastyles.blogspot.com That way my larger flower is accomodated.

Thanks for stopping by to view my latest creation. Your comments are always appreciated...

Thanks for the nice comment you left on my blog. The swirl I used on the Mo's challenge card is actually a cuttlebug die. It's nice, isn't it?
