After a splendiferous Blog Hop last week, Magnolia-licious DT decided to open up the challenge to everyone. The theme is Edwin Cards. So of course I just had to participate! I don't have but a few Edwins, and I love them, but my friend Pam in Alabama, sent me a couple of images of Edwin holding a balloon. I'm still on track for making birthday cards for all our August birthdays. I've made a few 'girly' ones but I do need a couple of 'guy' ones. so here's what I've put together...
I loved this blue and brown dsp from Rusty Pickle called 'Chocolate Bunnies' and thought might go well with Edwin. I stitched around both of my panels using brown thread and then added the screw head brads to try and make the card a little more masculine. I colored Edwin with Copic Markers, even using some of my newest 0000 colors which arrived yesterday. I used Stickles on his wings.
Here is a close up of my Edwin...
I can't believe that I spent all that time cutting around the string attached to the balloon!!! It's all adhered with pop dots, but it's so hard to tell in this photo.
I had to finish the inside of this card. It was so blank - and it seems I can no longer make a card without finishing the inside, though I'm using up way too much paper in doing so - heavy sigh!
So, here is the inside of my card...
And a close-up of the sentiment, which is from Starving Artistamps...
Well, the inside still seemed quite blank to me, so I used my one last Edwin with Balloon image, colored and cut the balloon out then attached it with pop dots to the sentiment panel inside. I've saved the Edwin, I can always put something else in his hand. My card is now ready to be mailed to my dear friend who is 61 this year...hope he likes it!
Super...super cute! Love the stitching!
ReplyDeleteBarb,
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute and I love the coloring.
Can you make few masculine birthday cards for me please? LOL I have 3 in August too.
Super card.
Oh my gosh, Barb! This card is adorable!! He's going to LOVE it! I can not believe you cut around that string! WOW!!! I do not have that kind of patience, LOL! I would have whacked it off and replaced it. HAHA! Kudos to you cause it looks amazing! Inside is wonderful too! Love that sentiment. :) hugs, Sharon
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, I got such a kick out of your comments about the inside of your card/cards. I knew when we first started seeing the insides of cards decorated and layered almost as much as the fronts, that it was a ploy by manufacturers to get us to buy more stamps, more dp, more cs, and more embellishments!! :) Well guess what, I am also following the trend, but have remained true to my New Year's Resolution to use up what I already have......(I'll be busy for at least the next three years!!) I also agree with your comment that to not decorate the inside of the card, it just does not seem finished. Hugs to the kiddos. Linda S. in NE
ReplyDeleteBarb, that is a great card. I love EVERYTHING about it. You are doing a super job with your new 0000 colors. Can't wait until I get them. This card is perfect! LindaC

ReplyDeleteHey Barb, I understand exactly to do the insides too. I now just couldn't stop doing the insides unless I am in rush or something. Your Edwin looks so handsome and smart. Your stitch work is just as wonderful as your coloring. Another precious piece!
